We are East Essex County Netball Association representing registered Netballers residing in East Essex.

Netball isn’t just sport; it’s a community, and a lifeline that supports women through every stage of adulthood.

Netball adapts and evolves with you, whether you are looking for competitive play at a netball club, the camaraderie and flexibility of Back to Netball or Netball Now, or the enduring joy of staying active and connected in later years through Walking Netball.

It’s a space where you can rediscover your strength, build lasting friendships, and find unwavering support, no matter what life throws your way.

From adolescence to motherhood, menopause and beyond, netball provides a supportive environment where women can stay active, boost their well-being, and navigate every stage of life with confidence and community.

Walking Netball

Here’s to the Wild Ones!

England Netball is proud to present Walking Netball, it’s an experience that is one of a kind and gives access to a whole world of fun, activity and lots of laughter. Brought to you by a specially trained Walking Netball Host, the physical and mental benefits are endless, you’ll be supported and welcomed every step of the way.

What is Walking Netball?

Walking Netball is a friendly and inclusive programme, allowing women the opportunity to find their place in the sport. It’s netball, but at a walking pace and where the rules are slightly tweaked.

Usually held indoors, there are over 200 programmes running across the country all year round. Since its inception, more than 40,000 women have gotten involved in their local communities. Sessions are run by specially trained Walking Netball Hosts who run the activities and join in with all the fun and laughter!

You can pay and play for a single session and see how you like it – no long-term commitment is required.

Who is it for?

Walking Netball has been designed so that anyone can play, regardless of age or fitness level.

From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago. Walking Netball really is for everyone.

It can give those who feel isolated an outlet, provide an activity for those who do not deem themselves fit enough to run anymore and offer a stepping stone for those looking for a pathway back into netball.

It’s also for people who have never played before. Whoever you are, there is a place for you within Walking Netball.

Where and when does it happen?

Sessions take place in local communities, often in leisure centres or community venues, all over the country – the list of them is in the Session Finder.

They occur in weekly sessions that are run by Walking Netball hosts, largely at indoor venues.

Why you should join

The off-the-court experience is as important as the on-the-court experience. Most sessions involve a cup of tea (or a glass of prosecco!) and a natter afterwards. Physically and mentally, it makes you feel good; particularly at key stages of women’s lives.

Walking Netball is an amazing community that is full of life and laughter. It is fantastic for helping women form connections, and stay active and healthy for longer.

This is about finding your place; somewhere where you feel supported in life and where you can also support others. It’s about women being able to show up as their authentic selves, in a fun and positive environment where there is zero judgement or pressure.
